Who We Are

In March, 1988, Jim Melo purchased Patterson's first machine shop and changed the name to Melo Machine & Manufacturing. 

The business, while under new ownership, continued to repair all types of agricultural equipment in both areas of welding and machine work. 

Introduction of custom design and fabrication soon followed to cater to the special needs of individuals and their applications. 

With the purchase of a domestic pump repair business, Melo Machine & Manufacturing began to expand its services rapidly. Two pump trucks provide installation and repair services for both domestic and irrigation pumps in an area over 550 square miles. 

In 1993, the business moved to a new location to accommodate yet another acquisition, Tyler Welding, specializing in bean planter fabrication and blacksmith work, including bean cutting knives.

The business expanded once again in February, 1996 with the purchase of C.B. Hay Co., a dry bean harvester and windrower manufacturing company. 

Along with normal operations, Melo Machine & Manufacturing fabricates parts and provides service for C.B. Hay and Price harvesters from our Magnolia Ave location in Patterson, California. 

In 2015, Joseph, Jim's oldest son, was hired full time to help in the daily operations. 

2017, Jim and Joseph Incorporated with a slight name change to Melo Machine & Manufacturing, Inc. This helped with providing more benefits to their employees. 

In 2022, Jim and Joseph added Paragon Bean Cutters to their line up of in house fabrication while still maintaining all their other services. 

 As a second-generation company, Melo Machine & Manufacturing, Inc. remains committed to delivering quality service—a cornerstone of its success for nearly four decades.
